Working the Healthcare IT market

MOLE sweeps the IT consulting firms competing for Epic, Oracle Cerner, and Meditech implementation, optimization, and support work — Nordic, Tegria, Pivot Point, CSI, AMN IT, HCTec, Aya IT, and growing. This page explains the data and how to run a week on the dashboard.

01 / Mission

What MOLE Healthcare IT is for

You're placing or selling Healthcare IT talent — Epic application analysts, Oracle Cerner consultants, Meditech support, clinical informatics, integration engineers, HIM coders. The IT market sits on a different budget than locum (CIO, not CMO), and the buying signal is different too: it's a consulting engagement, often remote, often multi-state, and the firms competing are a different roster.

MOLE tracks every public IT staffing-firm roster we can reach. When two or three firms post the same Epic Cadence Application Analyst role on the same client, you have a verified, funded engagement.

The bet

IT consulting roles routinely mask the client name in the posting. The signal you can act on is platform + role-family + city/region showing up across multiple firms — that's a real engagement someone's staffing.

02 / Opportunities

What an IT opportunity actually is

An opportunity in the Healthcare IT Briefing Room represents one consulting engagement — typically a project role like an Epic Cadence Analyst or an Oracle Cerner CCL Developer — built from however many staffing-firm postings happen to be pointing at it.

The grouping key is:

opportunity = (city, state, platform, role_family)

IT differs from locum and interim in three important ways:

  • Geography is loose. ~95% of postings are remote, multi-state, or nationwide. State-less postings collapse into a __nationwide__ bucket on the dashboard so they aren't lost.
  • Facility names are usually masked. IT consultancies rarely name the hospital client. So we don't attempt facility matching on this vertical — the grouping fires on platform + role-family + location instead.
  • Engagement type matters more than provider type. Contract / Contract-to-hire / Permanent each have different margin profiles and decision-maker journeys.

What an opportunity IS

  • One consulting engagement
  • The firms competing on it right now
  • A platform / role-family signal you can sell to

What it is NOT

  • A named hospital client (usually masked)
  • An RFP — these are public listings
  • An on-site role (most are remote)

03 / Confidence

How we score signal quality

IT opportunities are scored from 0–100 with the same engine, but two of the locum signals are intentionally omitted because they don't apply in IT (no facility match) plus a source-tier bonus that rewards Tier-1 named consultancies (Nordic, Tegria, etc.) over generic boards:

Agencies competingup to +35
Seen in previous cycle+10
Posted in the last 3 days+10
Posted in the last 7 days+5
Stale postings (could be filled)−3 each, −10 cap

Source-tier bonus: up to +10 when the highest-tier source on the group is a Tier-1 named consultancy. The signal log on each card shows it explicitly.

HIGH

70 – 100

Verified target. Facility identified, multiple agencies competing, recent posting, persisted across cycles. Call this first.

  • 2+ agencies typically
  • Confident facility match
  • Posted in the last 7 days
  • Often perm signal present

MEDIUM

40 – 69

Real lead with some uncertainty. Worth a call after you've worked the High pile. Sometimes a sole-agency posting with a verified facility — still a target, just less competitive.

  • 1 agency with facility match
  • Decent posting age
  • Persistence helps move it up
  • Stale flag drops it down

LOW

0 – 39

Unverified signal. Often a single posting we couldn't tie to a real hospital. Useful for exhaustive sweeps; skip in normal triage.

  • No facility match
  • Single source
  • Older posting
  • May contain noise

04 / Filters

Every filter, what it does, and when to reach for it

IT filters are organized around platform, role-family, and engagement type — the axes that actually correspond to buying centers and skill rosters.

Platform & Role

Platform

multi

Intent ·Epic / Oracle Cerner / Meditech / Other. The largest single buying signal — every IT firm has a platform bias.

Mechanics ·Indexed via opportunity_groups.it_taxonomy->>'platform'. Partial expression index for fast filtering.

Role Family

multi

Intent ·Application Analyst / Systems Engineer / Security / BI & Data / Integration / Clinical Informatics / HIM. Your sales pitch differs by role family — Cadence Analyst conversations sound nothing like Security conversations.

Mechanics ·Indexed via opportunity_groups.it_taxonomy->>'role_family'.

Engagement Type

multi

Intent ·Contract / Contract-to-Hire / Permanent. Contract-heavy firms (HCTec, Tegria) bias one way; perm-placement firms bias the other.

Mechanics ·Indexed via opportunity_groups.it_taxonomy->>'engagement_type'.

Certifications

multi

Intent ·Epic certs (Cadence, Resolute Hospital Billing, ClinDoc, etc.). Filter to opportunities your candidate bench can actually cover.

Mechanics ·Stored in it_taxonomy.certifications array; matched against your candidate roster outside the dashboard.

Geography

States

multi-include / exclude

Intent ·Most IT roles are remote, but on-site / hybrid roles still happen. Set this when you care about specific markets.

Mechanics ·2-letter state codes. State-less ('Nationwide') postings sit in the __nationwide__ bucket and won't be filtered by state inclusion.

Nationwide / Statewide / Onsite

filter

Intent ·See only remote roles, only statewide roles, or only onsite roles. Onsite is the rarest and most premium-priced of the three.

Mechanics ·Based on the city/state markers — __nationwide__, __statewide__, or a real city.

Consultancies

Firms

multi-include / exclude

Intent ·See where named consultancies are competing — Nordic, Tegria, Pivot Point, CSI Healthcare IT, AMN Healthcare IT, HCTec, Aya IT. The counts beside each are distinct opportunities they're posting on.

Mechanics ·'agency_names overlaps any of these'. Tier-1 firms get a confidence bonus.

Targets & Accounts

Favorites

boolean · saved

Intent ·Useful even with masked clients — you can star a role-family + region you want to track and use Favorites as your watch list.

Mechanics ·Per-user with RLS.

Signal Quality

Confidence Tier

multi

Intent ·Restrict to HIGH / MEDIUM / LOW. HIGH = multiple firms posting the same role/platform in the same region — your verified targets.

Mechanics ·Uses the IT-vertical scoring weights (no facility-match signal; source-tier bonus active).

Posting Age

single-select

Intent ·IT roles often have longer half-lives than locum (months not days). 30-day windows are typical; 7-day for fresh-signal chasing.

Mechanics ·Reads the freshest posting in the group.

05 / Reading a Card

How to read an IT opportunity card

IT cards lead with platform + role-family, not facility name:

  • Platform badge · Epic, Oracle Cerner, Meditech, Other. The first signal you read.
  • Role family + Role title · the seat being filled. Role title is the freeform display ('Epic Cadence Application Analyst'); role family is the bucket.
  • Engagement type · Contract / Contract-to-Hire / Permanent.
  • Firm count · the core signal. 2+ firms posting the same platform + role-family in the same region is the most reliable indicator of an open engagement.
  • Certifications · shown when the listing names specific certs (Cadence, Resolute HB, etc.). Filter your candidate roster against these.
  • Click to expand · see every individual firm posting, with title, scrape date, and link out to the source.

06 / Saved Preferences

Saved preferences worth setting on day one

Favorites

Star role + platform combinations you place into regularly (e.g. Epic Cadence in the Southeast). The Favorites tile becomes your morning read even with masked clients.

Platform filter

Set your dominant platform (Epic or Cerner) as the default filter via URL — bookmark moleagent.ai/healthcare-it?platform=epic to land filtered every time.

07 / Daily Playbook

A weekly rhythm for using MOLE Healthcare IT

1

Monday: High Confidence sweep by platform

Filter to your dominant platform (Epic or Cerner). Click High Confidence. The list you see is engagements with 2+ firms competing — the strongest weekly target set.
2

Match certifications to your bench

For each High Confidence row, check the certifications. The candidates you can deploy this week against these certs are your priority outreach pile.
3

Firms audit (1×/week)

Pick a Tier-1 firm (Nordic, Tegria). See every engagement they're actively staffing. Look for clusters in a single role family — that's often a multi-seat engagement worth a broader conversation.
4

Wednesday: New This Week sweep

Run New Today across the week. IT roles posted in the last 3-5 days are the freshest opening — sometimes still pre-bid.
5

Friday: Favorites + nurture

Toggle Favorites Only. Anything new at a starred role/platform/region combo is a call. Anything dormant in a starred combo for 60+ days is a candidate-availability ping.

08 / FAQ

Common questions

Which firms do you track?

Today: Nordic Consulting, Tegria, Pivot Point Consulting, CSI Healthcare IT, AMN Healthcare IT, Aya IT, HCTec, and Health Tech Nerds (community board). New firms added regularly.

Why don't I see a client hospital name?

IT consultancies almost always mask the client. We use platform + role-family + region as the grouping key instead. Two firms posting the same Epic Cadence Analyst in the same metro is the same level of signal as two locum firms posting the same hospital.

Why is the state often missing?

~95% of IT roles are remote or multi-state. State-less rows sit in the __nationwide__ bucket on the dashboard so you can still find them — they aren't dropped on the floor.

How fresh is the data?

Scrapers run nightly at 2 AM Eastern. The Healthcare IT grouper runs independently (doesn't wait for the locum sweep) so the IT dashboard usually refreshes by ~3 AM.

Can I share this guide with my team?

Send them moleagent.ai/guide/healthcare-it. It's public — no login required.
